Grain & Light

Notes on shooting and developing film at home

Recent notes

Stand development, two months in

Rodinal at 1+100 for an hour, one slow inversion at the halfway mark. Shadows hold up better than I expected; bright skies still need a careful eye.

Scanning negatives with a phone and a light pad

Not a replacement for a proper scanner, but good enough to decide which frames deserve one. The trick is a flat holder and turning off every other light in the room.

A changing bag that actually works

After two cheap ones that leaked light at the seams, a double-zip bag finally made loading reels in the kitchen painless.

About

A small notebook kept mostly for myself: what worked, what didn't, and what to try on the next roll.
